Bug Kodi isn't playing WebM files
#1
I keep a personal collection of videos I converted to WebM format, in a portable hard drive and used to watch all the time on LibreElec, which uses Kodi.
Because I installed it alongside a few other distros on NOOBS, I figured I didn't need those other distros and decided to wipe everything and install just LibreElec alone.

But then, all of a sudden, I found that it wasn't playing my WebM videos!
I do see the video's timeline running in the top right corner of the screen but I don't see the actual video playing,
just the spinning "loading" disc which goes on forever.

Could someone please help?
Thank you.

LibreELEC questions might find a quicker and better answer on LibreELEC own support forums.

To receive meaningful assistance you will need to provide a full debug log.

The instructions are here... debug log (wiki)

If you are using the Basic Method, then ensure the following is applied...
1.Enable debugging in Settings>System Settings>Logging,
2.Restart Kodi
3.Replicate the problem.
4.Upload the log to Kodi Paste Site manually or use the Kodi Logfile Uploader. (wiki) With either method post the link to the log back here.

If you are using the Advanced Method ensure you have correctly created and applied the advancedsettings.xml file (wiki)

In both instances, you should see the word DEBUG throughout the log.

Note: Full logs only. No partial or redacted logs
Do NOT post your logs directly into the forum. Use the Kodi Paste Site. Post the link to your pasted log in the forum

Confirmed. Disable "Allow using DRM PRIME decoder"
This should be fixed in a future update. See here.

Click on settings (cog wheel) / player / videos / Allow using DRM PRIME decoder
You may need to to switch settings level from standard to advanced/expert to see that setting.

By Jove! It worked! I turned it off and my WebM files are playing now!
Thanks!
