Kodi and Home Assistant?
#1
Hi! Is anyone here using Home Assistant with Kodi as a Media Player? Right now, I am using Squeezebox (Internet-Radio / Local Audio) and Kodi as Mediaplayers there, but for Kodi, I seem to have less functionality.

- When I Press the On/Off Button in a Squeezeboxplayer, it turns on/off. When I do that for a Kodi player, nothing happens ( I have Windows + Raspberry Pi Kodi Installations)
- When I Press the Browse Media Button in a Squeezeboxplayer, I can select media to be played. When I do that in a Kodi player, it usually crashes.

I didn't try much more than this until now, I was looking forward to implementing some sort of "Kodi and Chill", with nice Hue Lights and so on, but I don't seem to be able to get the basics right for the Kodi Mediaplayers.

Ultimately, I'd like to press a button somewhere, be able to e.g. select "I'd like to see something funny" and Kodi plays the next item from a Smartplaylist, regardless, if the corresponding RPi is currently turned on, regardless, if the TV has been turned on, the soundbar been turned on, if Kodi is running yet, etc.

Any experience, any guidance? Thanks!

Sorry no, however just read in their latest Home Assistant newsletter that they "been working on some exciting audio stuff" which could maybe make Kodi integration even more interesting if implemented:

That is, their "Let's get loud!" live Event about audio in the open home has been announced for June 16 2022, 10:00 PDT / 21:00 CET on their YouTube channel:
