Does any of the distance or cinematic feeling matter when the majority of my viewing is old TV shows like Gunsmoke, Gilligan's Island, Brady Bunch, etc??

i dont think this is something anyone can answer for you, everyone is different and the experience should be tailored for you
on lower resolution it may be more pixelated up close and ruin it, that's about the extent i could really say

if you're curious, move your chair/couch closer and further away until it feels good for you, you might even find that you've been sitting way too close and further away is better

on top of the distance i also took into account the height of the tv and instead of placing it directly center of eye level when sitting up on my couch i raised it a bit more so that it would actually be center when reclining and my viewing angle changes upward, that way i dont have to lean my head down and strain my neck, all based on my own preferences and the way i want to watch a film
