Req Loaded one click installer

Hi all,
A question for the community.

A few years ago I had skinned my Kodi and loaded it up with all sorts of custom content (for a business I operate, *removed by moderator*) and I had a fellow programmer make it into an exe 1 click installer for windows where it installs Kodi, the skin and all the preprogrammed repositories and we gave it to people and they absolutely flipped out and loved it. Unfortunately couple weeks later a big core update happened and broke everything.

I want to do this again but in a more intelligent way where it can be installed on all OS and when updates roll out it doesn't break the design.

Any developers willing to help me? I'm a php programmer and media specialist so I can do alot but I'm not the best with creating complied applications.

For those who are willing to join me I will be willing to make you part of our *removed* team and include you in Rev shares when we start making money with sponsors and advertising. We're now using streamyard for broadcast quality productions and plans to use vplayed for a streaming TV app but it cost 65k and so I am trying to find an alternative for now and maybe even forever if we could make this work like I envision.

Please let me know if interested or have any resources I might be able to use to accomplish this.

Thank you KODI community! I hope I can contribute to the community too. Kodiak rocks! Smile

you should have a read of the distribution policy https://kodi.wiki/view/Official:Distribution_Policy

i think the part where it states "You may not add to, remove or modify any part of the downloaded package, including the installation process." is rather pertinent

on a more opinion based response, note i am not part of the project, i think this is a pirate's wet dream "I can load all my pirate sources into an installer and distribute Kodi with free pirate media" and (only speaking for myself) i would never help with such a thing

("Kodiak rocks!" - what is Kodiak?)

You need to familiarise yourself with the forum rules (wiki), specifically:

"Do not use usernames to promote your business, product, or website."

We will require you to request  a change of username as soon as possible to be able to continue to be part of this community.

Also as izprtxqkft has already mentioned by distributing Kodi as you have already done so you are also in violation of our distribution policy and for the same reasons we do not allow discussions on how to do this on our forum.
Always read the Wiki, FAQ and search the forum before posting.
Read/follow the forum rules.

Oops, typo, my bad.

Thanks for your reply, I did not know that and I wasn't intending to load it with pirated material just scraping public green videos and other media for our users.. Sounds like it will be a nogo though if it's not allowed..  Thought it was open source? Fork whatever you want?

No problems. You don't know until you know.

The piracy stuff is our biggest concern, but if they are out of copyright or no copyright, then it won't be a problem.

Certainly is. But if you are modifying and repackaging for public distribution, especially for earning revenue, and still using the Kodi logo then you will be in breach of our trademark.
I think that earning revenue on the fork may be in breach of GPL v2 licences. I'll have to check with @keith
You need to fork and rebrand so there is no connection between what you are doing as a third party (which we have no control over) and our project.

Read here... https://kodi.wiki/view/Official:Distribution_Policy

Have you rebranded? Maybe you can point to a repo we can check?

As for your original question, not meaning to insult in any way, but I doubt you will receive much or any help from developers here. We are barely treading water with the few developers we have, so none of them will have time to help with a forked project when they barely have time for Kodi, especially if you have no intention of contributing upstream to our project. Of course you are free and welcome to ask questions here on the forum and other members in the forum may have answers, or even a developer might pop in with an answer, but just don't hold your breath.
