Solved Please - Can you bump a fix to Confluence to work with Kodi 21 RC 1 ? (was Beta 3)
#1
Hi folks,

Just tried to load Kodi 21 beta 3 on my windows box running Kodi.

And since I didn't read the release notes, I did not know (until completed loading) that beta 3 requires all skins to be updated.
Quote:Skin Developers
An API bump has been made for Kodi 21's testing cycle. See the following PRs for details:
https://github.com/xbmc/xbmc/pull/23926
https://github.com/xbmc/xbmc/pull/23862
This will require changes and submissions to the Omega branch for skins for those who submit to the Kodi repository. Reach out on the forums if you have any questions/concerns.

As a result, I'm falling back to 21 Beta 2, HOWEVER, please can someone make the required update?

Thank you very much for your continued support of the best Kodi skin available.

Thanks.  I'll hold off on Beta 3 for a while.

Should I do so with Kodi v21 Release Candidate 1 ?

If so, will it be available in 21 RC1   or   should I load the addon via zip skin.confluence-Omega.zip ?

thx.

You can use it with v21 RC1 but it won't officially get released until final.

@Hitcher - Very nice!  Thank you for your efforts.

This comment is stating what I see on a dedicated windows 10 system, running 21 RC1, and Confluence (from your recent link).

* I like the way that you can now "set default startup item".  Pity it doesn't actually work.  I selected "Movies" as default, but after rebooting it came up with "TV Shows" as the focus.
* Radio and TV are new to me... but as I have no tuner in my Win10 box, they will end up hidden.  Streaming web radio would be nice but that is not related to the functionality of the Confluence skin.
* I saw you updated the zip file name to skin.confluence-master.zip  (loaded through add-ons without issue)
* Display stayed the same, as well as Audio.  Nice when those aren't changed to some other settings after some sort of upgrade.
* ADDED AFTER USE - I noticed that is you go to your media sources in thumbnail view, that when using a remote control (like Harmony One) and tab over to a source, that while the item is selected / highlighted (which is good) the name for that source disappears (which is not so good).  Other aspects expected in that area work fine.

I use both "profiles" as well as a centralized MySQL / MariaDB repository and they seem to be working as well.

Especially glad about the continued functionality of profiles and that seemed to be something that some of the developers had less interest in.

Bummer that I will need to remove Radio and TV in each individual profile...  and then have to do that again on the 4 systems throughout the house.  Tedious, but ... eh.  George Jetson complaining about having to press buttons, right?

Great job, thank you!

Can you try again with the latest fixes.

They've always been available but were hidden when not used. I had to change this logic to enable the default startup item and you need to hide them in the skin settings now but it's a small price to pay for a feature people have wanted for a long time.

Not me, that's just how it works downloading from GitHub.

Should be fixed as well.

Tried latest...

* "set default startup item" now sticks.

* Disappearing source name also resolved.

Thank you.

The original "8-foot skin" is still rockin' thanks to your efforts!
It's working great on the 85" main screen in the living room, all the way down to an old Microsoft Surface touchscreen in the bedroom.
Really appreciate it!

@Hitcher - found another weird glitch:

When exporting video library, the [ X ] to close the window isnt top right, it is sitting right over "rary" of library.

Also...  not a flaw but more of a pet peeve...  when you open a library ("Movies", TV", "Music")... Somewhere along the line in developingXBMP/XBMC/KODI someone thought it was critical to count the seconds, minutes and and hours of potential entertainment in that specific view (displayed bottom rt corner).
And if you have  H U G E  library, then you have to wait.  And the wait delays the artwork showing up.
Is there still any real reason for that feature to be there?   Will I ever want to watch 85000 hours of movies (9+years) non-stop?   (no. The answer is: no.)

Can you kill that "feature"?  Not kill it from displaying, but flat out from counting the hours to begin with.

Thanks.

I've been testing the updated Confluence on RC1 under Windows.  It is working very well so far.

Thanks,

Jeff

Really good, to have this skin still maintained!

Two minor findings from my side:

Navigate to "Settings"
Enter the "Settings" menu
Navigate back
Instead of "Settings" the menu item "Music" is highlighted

Set four shortcuts for video addons (shortcut 1 / 2 / 3 / 4)
Navigate to "Videos"
Navigate down to highlight a shortcut
Shortcut "4" is highlighted
Expectation is to highlight according to the normal sort order, starting with "1"
