Hello,

i have one question, is XMBC related with MediaPortal ? On sourceforge i see that MP includes an XBMC directory.

I thought that XBMC is an proprietary development.

xbmc is as libre as you get it

media portal started as a reworking of xbmc into c# many many years ago. they're still at it and they still think a media center developed in managed code is a smrt thing to do

Means that MP is a replica ? The new Version of XBMC for windows has nothing to do with Mediaportal ?

Ok thank you. XBMC is proprietary development and has nothing to do with Mediaportal. This was a question in another forum, because MP has this XBMC directory and for MP exist a replica of the ProjectMayhem Skin.

Proprietary generally means that a private party has full ownership and control of something.

Both XBMC and MediaPortal are open source. If they want to, they can borrow each others code. As mentioned, MediaPortal started out as a fork of XBMC years ago.

It basically means it runs under a virtual machine, much like java, except in this case I assume its .NET (haven't ever messed with MP just guessing 'cause of C#).
