Audioscrobbler support for My Music
#1
i use the audioscrobbler plugin on all my pcs.  i am a media fanatic.  audioscrobbler helps me to further explore my musical tastes by looking at what others listen to with similar tastes and checking out other music they listen to.  its a great way to find bands you like.  would there be any way to incorporate this plugin into xbmc?

so, i used to have a desktop machine that i'd listen to music on, and audioscrobbler was a very nice pluggin to log not only what you were listening to, but also to see what similar people's interests are.  now, an actually audioscrobbler pluggin usually isn't that hard (just a simple post to a website).  however, the xbmc source makes my head hurt, and i don't even know where to start.

anyways, i think that'd it be an awesome addition.

i only found out about this service today and i would like to express pretty much the same thing thinkfire did.. it would be a great addition to xbmc it's a pretty fun idea and it's nice to find out about new artists this way.. so this is a suggestion for this feature again.

edit: what i am after in this case is only for xbmc to be able to report the songs played to audioscrobbler, the listings and and other stuff is something i feel is best left to your webbrowser.

it's simple, if you really love your music then this is a feature wich you simply can't live without. the joy of continuing to find new great bands is godly and since 90% of the music that gets played in my home goes through xbmc it would help alot to have this feature.. now if this was something that would take hours and hours to implement i wouldn't be begging about it... but (don't ask me why) somehow i feel that this task might just be pretty simple (i hope so anyway) and i think such a feature would benefit xmbc greatly... atleast for the userbase wich considers themselves to be music freaks. i'll continue praying for this one if you don't mind ej2095 Smile

Question
audioscrobbler builds a profile of your musical taste using a plugin for your media player (winamp, itunes, xmms etc..). plugins send the name of every song you play to the audioscrobbler server, which updates your musical profile with the new song.

how about a option to have this build-in or as a plugin for xbox media centre? even a python script would be ideal.

consider this a 'me too' request.

when audiogalaxy was still around, it provided a similar service... when i downloaded an album, there was a little forum attached where people would post messages saying 'if you liked this, you'll love <x>' or 'this sounds dead like <y>'.

this resulting in my cd collection growing faster than it had ever done in it's life, because i started listening to stuff that i never normally had access to or any inclination of listening to.

(this is what really pisses me off about the riaa - to say that all people that download music are pirates, but when i was in that phase of downloading - i bought more music than i had ever done in my life!... but thats another argument completely).

consider this a 'please add audioscrobbler support to xbmc' request please.

i see that first support was added on 15th april and there have been a few bugfixes since then.
last reference was for an update on 28th april.
xbmc is also registered on the audioscrobbler site and has around 30 members in its group.

so - get the current code and try it out.
