Rewind goes in Fast Forward + short Audio loop
#1
Ok, I am a new user (but old HTPCer) and found XBMC very easy to setup and got my setup pretty much running the way I want...

Running XBMC Atlantis Beta 2 (no SVNs)

I have just noticed 2 issues with my setup that I cannot find the solution for:

1. Rewinding my DVD movies actually goes in fast forward. My files are video_ts.ifo but with out the video_ts folder aka MOVIENAME/video_ts.ifo. At first I thought this was an eventghost/remote issue but found even the keyboard keys do the same thing aka "r" is fast forward and so is "f". I checked some xml files for the keys and everything looks ok r maps to the <rewind> command etc. The direction keys skip ahead and back properly. I know that this has worked at least once. I am still trying to find if there is a pattern with this odd behavior.

2. When I FFWD or RWD (in my case always FFWD) the audio loops with a short 1/2 second sound from the movie (what ever was playing when I hit the FFW/RWD button. This is fairly annoying, is this supposed to happen or is there a setting to disable all sound during ffw/rwd?

Thanks much

hi,

i have the same problem ...

i store my movies as dvd iso files.

since the final version of xbmc and also with the newest svn i cant rewind the movie ...

if i press rewind the movie will fast farward.

i use xbmc for windows with the pm3 skin. same problem in pm3.hd skin.

i cant rewind by pressing the "r" button from the keyboard and by using the menu that pops up when you move the mouse ... but i can rewind with the left arrow key ...

would be nice if someone could fix the bug ...

thanks,
miregal

I get this on all video formats.

Same here. Is there any fix for this issue? It happens only on the video's that have a digital soundtrack. The others mute the sound when ffwding.

Thanks.

old issue I know... just want to rehash it.

Should I put in a bug request or other?

bnb - I can't confirm that it is only digital connections have you?

I've found the same thing happening on my Ubuntu 8.10 based XBMC HTPC REW on all my video streams (avi, iso, vob, DVD, etc) actually goes forward! I have not found a stream that works yet. I just built xbmc from SVN last night (Jan-9-2009) and rew still goes forward?? The 30-second jump works fine, and that is what I have my REW button linked to. But, normal REW would be a nice feature Wink

XBMC from SVN (Jan-9-2009) (haven't figured out how to get the xbmc version # yet)
Ubuntu 8.10
Digital Audio Connection Only -> SPDIF -> Receiver
nVidia 6200 AGP -> DVI -> Sony SXRD

I didn't get a chance to clear, and get a fresh log, but I think this is the relevant section.
I'll look into getting a better log snapshot soon

hi,

i know that xbmc is freeware and so i must be patient ...

but this bug is now 4 month old ... and i only want to be able to rewind my movies ....

i don't think that it could be a so big programming error ...

i would be very glad and thankfull if one of the developers could try to fix it ...

the ticket is

http://trac.xbmc.org/ticket/5462

bye,
miregal

the original ticket is for the live platform and people using an xbox a adding stuff to the ticket, so either add stuff to the ticket about WINDOWS or move this to the proper forum sub section....

This looks like a multi platform issue, I have updated the ticket.

Personally I would like to see a 100% mute when FF or RW. Is that possible?

it should mute... doesn't it?

Nope when you fast forward it just loops the last bit of audio over and over until you stop (on Windows at least).

Yep I get this on all videos too... Have through all of the latest builds for the last few months. I never saw this post before, so I assumed it was just my soundcard or something.

I think it will repeat the last second of what you watched for all teh FF except for 32x. Now I do have 2 setups. I have one computer that I use only for testing. I do not get the loop on that one. Its is running only stereo analog audio. My main system I am running the pass-through via optical out. That system does get the 1 second releating loop on all FF modes but 32x. Maybe digital vs analog has something to do with it.

Just confirmed that it only loops on S/PDIF for me too. Analogue is fine.
