[REQUEST] Facebook plugin and/or script for XBMC?

Lightbulb
Just read an article saying how their new OpenSteamAPI is now available to programmmers. Immediately thought of the what this could mean for XBMC.

Sounds like most information available to the FB home page is now avail to third-party apps...

Thought I'd put that out there for you script-brains.

More importantly...it might just give my GF a reason to be interested in XBMC. Wink

Hell, even if some kind of RSS feed could be created...I've already got a great place for this in Serenity.

Interesting thought.. bringing the 'social' stuff into the xbmc environment.

I read recently about a company out there who is branding their new product as a social media environment. It's connected to the net as you'd expect, and you have your contacts on there. Not sure whether they're messenger or email or who knows.. but their idea is to make the media playback a social experience.. (broadcasts the name of the video you're watching, lets a friend share the video at the same time?) something like that.

Seems neat.

I'd personally quite like an IM within xbmc, but it's goin abit outside what xbmc is I suppose...

I guess the way people watch and share their stuff is changing a lot these days, something for the future maybe?

Facebook.. rss feeds yeah that would be cool I spose. It would need a lot of thought wouldn't it.. as facebook has all types of things going on.

Add the status RSS feed to RSSFeeds.xml, why wait?

Because the new API allows for better information control?

Simply adding an RSS url wouldn't work, because Facebook requires you to login.

Now, this is an "app", and not a "plugin". I'd imagine that apps are a special feature of boxee?

FYI; some Boxee "apps" are just plain python scripts that they just call a "Boxee App" Wink
