Bummer about the saving of playlists.
Actually, I have yet to even mess with playlists since the Eden Beta, and I just noticed NONE of my playlists are working in XBMC. I was wondering why they weren't loading in XBMControl and then I tried in XBMC and they don't work there at all... Weird.
I'll mess with it later tonight to find out WHAT THE!..
EDIT: Had to change my playlists from .m3u to .asx .. Interesting?

Guys,
I am not sure I have the right thread here and wasn't quite sure how I could post a new thread. I have been running XBMC for a few months now on a HP Proliant Microserver and want now to be able to use a web interface to be able to control XBMC from my laptop. I have set up the network under settings as explained in the link below, but I don't get anything like the functions on the resulting web page. I am using XBMC version 10.1 I have tried using AWX as a different web interface, which is fine, but it doesn't seem to give me as much as what is described in the link below. Surely it's not a case of merely loading a different skin? Does the default web interface described here really give you the same as the screenshots suggest? Setting the web interface to default gives me two links (as seen on the index.html page) of Movies and Music. Any advice greatly appreciated and I am really sorry if I have put this in the wrong place. AJ http://lifehacker.com/5501010/enhance-yo...any-device |

Hello ajfish,
The article was written about two years ago. There have been a few versions of "XBMC Control" that have been developed over the years. The "XBMControl" shown in the article is an earlier project that I did participate in. That project was based on the .NET framework and limited itself to Windows machines. I don't think that project has been worked on for some time. In the last two years XBMC has gone through tremendous changes and many of those screen shots in the article are not valid anymore. The default web interface has always been somewhat limited (hence the need for third party web interfaces). I suggest you move to the newest versions of XBMC (Eden Beta). This will enable you to use the newest and greatest versions of AWX and XCWP (XBMC Control Web Page). Please note that both AWX and XCWP are going through a transition due to XBMC changing the way it communicates through its web server. In essence we are catching up to the new interface. I do think both web interfaces are caught up though some issues may still need to be resolved. The best thing you can do is upgrade XBMC to the newest Eden Beta and try the web interfaces out and choose one to work with. If there are issues or features you would like to see then communicate with the authors through these forums. I know the authors who communicate through the forums are very responsive. Kabooga,
Thanks for the reply and thanks for not flaming me! ;-) I actually work with computers (CAD /dbase apps) but have certainly found my journey of discovery with XBMC challenging. What with "Repos" and "Add ins" all with an apparent random naming convention it's all a bit confusing to the new comer. I hadn't come across repositories before and still not sure how you know what contains what! Thanks again, I will upgrade XBMC and test the new web interface. In the little time I have used XBMC I have to say I am very impressed and it has completely changed my viewing habits. AJ |

Here's the link to the forum for the old XBMControl. Bram77 was the originator of the project and he graciously allowed me to submit changes.
Note: This is an old project and is depreciated. It has not been tested with Dharma or Eden versions of XBMC. http://forum.xbmc.org/showthread.php?tid=38120 I am an expert at acting like an expert ---- WC Fields. XBMC Web Control Interface - http://code.google.com/p/xbmcontrol-web/

I have a question and two feature requests.
The question: I notice this green themed remote trying to open when I go to the webpage but then it just disappears. How do I use this remote? The Feature: Can you have it include a check mark or something for the tv shows you've watched? Second Feature: Can you have tv episodes sorted not by title, but by episode number, as well as including an episode number column?

Newest version webinterface.xrc-0.0.B.zip can be loaded at.
http://code.google.com/p/xbmcontrol-web/downloads/list Changes: Added episode # (sortable) and playcount # to TV show's episode list. (nymusicman) Added GUI button back since remote works now. (nymusicman) VELPO: The script looks in the C:\Documents and Settings\[your account]\Application Data\XBMC\userdata\playlists\music directory for playlists. Please check to make sure your playlists are there. New playslists created through XBMC are put into that directory. Cheers. I am an expert at acting like an expert ---- WC Fields.
