[XBMCLIVE] Reboots on play video file
#1
I'm using XBMC for a long time now, have been a fan since the xbox version. Last year moved to the windows version because my box reached end of life and for the last couple of days trying to make a switch to the xbmclive version.

I'm also a linux noob, so this could be a common problem, most likely Smile...

I am trying to play a video file with the following information:
- codec: XVID
- res: 640x336
- framerate: 23.97600
- audio: mpga
- sample: 48 kHz
- bit 128 kb/s
- 3 streams with SPU (subtitles?) EN - SP - PORT

When starting this video my xbmc just reboots to the main screen. I just thought to report this because it is a video file of a recent DVDRip (2 weeks old) and my whole collection would play without any problem (MKV, HD-video, mp4, xvid, ...)

I tried playing the video file trough VLC on windows and it works, the weird thing is that it takes some time to start tough...

Hardware:
AMD 64 BE-2350 (64-bit x2)
nvidia Geforce 6600
2GB RAM

My XBMC setup:
- XBMC Live 9.04
- updated nvidia drivers (like: "apt-get install nvidia-glx-180")
- installed from the live CD to HDD
- architecture i686

debug log: http://pastebin.com/m7cb2186e

edit: Added log into pastebin (from xbmc.old.log)

You need to post a COMPLETE debug log for a session where you get
the error. Then use a site like pastebin and link to it in this thread.

See my sig for reporting problems...

Added log, noticed that xbmc.old.log contained the correct log. xbmc.log is probably the logfile for the restarted session?

First of all you are running SVN:19954 wich is quite old - update
to a more recent svn version !

Couldn't find any specific problems in your log files.

I followed a thread to update my xbmc. (http://www.xbmc.org/forum/showthread.php?t=54350)

The problem still exists.

If its only the Coraline vid file who is causing xbmc crash
and everything else plays fine it's probably something odd with
that particular file. I cant see anything in the logs causing the crash.

however i see that
10:05:19 T:2907130768 M:1998696448 DEBUG: FactoryCodec - Audio: passthrough - Opening
10:05:19 T:2907130768 M:1998696448 DEBUG: FactoryCodec - Audio: passthrough - Failed

Does audio function correctly with you ?

Try and enter file mode instead of library and play the same file from files view...

Audio works.

I found the problem, the associated sub-file. When I moved the sub-file out of the movie directory, the video was able to play.

Is it a know issue for sub-files to make xbmc crash?
