please tell wat i can do to fix

BTW... my other 2 computers that are running xp, os x work perfect, so my guess is it is a vista issueOo

You can always try to map a network path to a letter (x: \\otherpc\movies). That should do the trick.

Did you have a look at the log yourself?
23:04:46 T:166752 M:1446383616 ERROR: Win32DllLoader::Load: Unable to load special://xbmc/system/players/dvdplayer/avutil-50.dll (126)

You're missing or unable to load a .dll - It might mean nothing, or it might mean everything. When in doubt, go back to a fresh 9.04.1 install with a basic skin and work your way up until you find an SVN you're sure works.

Update - you're on SVN 22424 and someone on 22463 had pretty much the same problem http://www.xbmc.org/forum/showthread.php?t=57058 - you need to move to a known stable SVN - judging by http://xbmc.org/theuni/2009/08/31/follow-up-breakage/ you want something just before 22529 (i can't remember the exact build the dev's are recommending off the top of my head)

Just go to the front page of the unofficial SVN release thread. The most recent unbroken builds are now listed there.

I have Vista and it plays videos from my network. I don't even have a hard drive in my media PC. Problem is, XBMC doesn't play videos well at all because the CODECS are bad. This is why I switched to MediaPortal.

The codecs ain't bad. Actually they are quite good. Wants beefy cpu for 1080p but thats all.

An AMD Athlon X2 6000+ Dual-Core should be more than enough CPU. Vista Media Center and MediaPortal have no problems on same system and actually, MediaPortal isn't even designed to run on Vista.
