Boblightd, OS X, XBMC
#1
Hi,

i'am a little bit confused about the current status of boblight support. Huh

I looked at the Timeline for XBMC and found out that bobo1on1 did something for boblightd support in xbmc.

How can i test it or what goes on with the boblight support.

How can i use something like Atmolight under OS X and with XBMC?

Is there a boblightd support for OS X?

Can someone please clarify the current situation about atmospheric light support under OS X.

thx

I'm working on it, but it's a lot of work to get right and I don't want to spend too much time on it.
That applies to boblight in general and boblight support in xbmc, once it works on linux it shouldn't be too hard to get it to work on osx.

does the current boblightd solution run on OSX in conjunction with xbmc?

i couldnt find a lot of information about this.

It doesn't even compile on osx I think, and even if it did it wouldn't do anything useful.

Sorry for bumping old thread, but I was wondering if there is any news on Mac OSX support for Boblight. I got Philips amBX set I wish to use with XBMC. Thanks

I'm also looking into adding AmbiLight to my TV.
I'll buy an Arduino and some ledstrings from AdaFruit and this will get me going.

but, It would be nice to get the XBMC plugin working as well, so I won't have any problems with video that have black bars at the top. XBMC will send the data of the video I Assume?

Anyway, is there a way to get it working in XBMC on OSX and no other devices but Macs?
Thanks for your time, and the awesome effect your software gives us Smile

Just to inform everyone that boblightd (yes the deamon) can run on mac.
I have a binary and have it installed as startupitem so it will run as a service, including start, stop and restart of it.
The binary was provided by the user amet, as can be found on the main boblightthread post 341

I could provide a zip file with all instructions as how to run it as a service, just don't beat me up if what I did was overkill or something Smile

Sooo glad I could kill that virtual machine, now that treuly felt like overkill Big Grin

I just started today to be interested in Boblight.
A friend of mine told me, that xbmc could make it possible...

And then I found this: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Vo_no_lQtuI

This:
http://forum.xbmc.org/showthread.php?tid=116331
is a different kind of Boblight, I guess..?

Does anyone made a successful installation, like we see in the clip, with MacOS?

Thank you

I have found a step by step instruction (unfortunately in German language)

http://geekstechworld.com/all/howto/ambi...uj4OFMwfyN

http://arduino.cc/de/Guide/MacOSX

Don't have the time to read it, because I'm at work at the moment.
Sorry if above is crap...
