i've got my asrock 330 ion installed with a minimal install, and 185 drivers and the stable 9.11XBMC.

all avc/h264/dvds works great.

but any vc1 file will crash xbmc back to a logon screen.

I currently have the renderer set to "advanced shaders" it does the samething with vdpau as the renderer (or auto) so i figured, first try to make it work normally, then add vdpau in.

Can you install gdb so the crashlog gets a backtrace.

worked out it was my audio device.

got it sorted by using custom instead of hdmi.
