[RELEASE] iPhoto Plugin Addon for XBMC
Hi newbie here,

I just enabled my iphoto on xbmc. How do i get it to link up to the photos on my Mac?

Have a look through the documentation, which is also available from within the plugin in XBMC.

Hi, I am reporting a potential bug.

Symptom: shortly after opening an album, during thumbnail generation, XBMC crashes and returns to home screen.
Platform: AppleTV 2 (restored with XBMC freshly installed, no other add-on present)
Version of iOS/ATV: iOS 6.1 build 10B144b (6010.96), Apple TV software 5.2 (Jan 2013, latest untethered jaibreakable version at the time of writing)
XBMC: 12.2 "Frodo" official release: Git 20130502-32b1a5e (latest at the time of writing)
Jailbreak method: Seas0nPass 0.9.4 (766) (latest at the time of writing)
Install Method: apt-get from http://apt.awkwardtv.org/ stable main and http://mirrors.xbmc.org/apt/atv2 ./ (official method, see http://wiki.xbmc.org/index.php?title=HOW..._2#ATV_5.x)
iPhoto add-on: 2.1.7 (latest at the time of writing)
xbmc.log: http://pastebin.ubuntu.com/6436216/
syslog: http://pastebin.ubuntu.com/6436218/
Crash report (AppleTV_2013-11-17-110446_Apple-TV.plist): http://pastebin.ubuntu.com/6436230/

Other notes:
Photo library location: an AFP share on another host in the same network (afp://diskstation.fritz.box/photo/iPhoto Library) added with Zeroconf. Works without issues with XBMC and other add-ons.
Remark: this setup (ATV2 with Seas0nPass) typically has very low space in the root filesystem (88% used when freshly installed, apparently there is a cap at 90% for logs). Not sure if this can be a part of the problem.

Code:
Apple-TV:~ root# df -h
Filesystem            Size  Used Avail Use% Mounted on
/dev/disk0s1s1        598M  519M   74M  88% /
devfs                  27K   27K     0 100% /dev
/dev/disk0s1s2        6.9G  445M  6.5G   7% /private/var

Any help is appreciated, if you need any information just ask. Thanks!

I don't really know.. there are a couple errors opening files, but I have no idea if those are causing the crash.

I don't have an AppleTV, so it's a bit hard for me to replicate. Perhaps try NFS or SMB and see if it does the same thing?

Thanks, using SMB and rebuilding the library actually worked!

AFAIU, this bug is not in the iPhoto add-on but somewhere in XBMC or its substrates. Where should I file a bug report for that?

You could either post in the general forum to see if someone can help you diagnose the issue, or submit a ticket at trac.xbmc.org

Interesting, AFP support is plainly declared broken. Sorry for the noise.

Have you read the README included with the addon? There is a link to it in the context menu.

Hi jingai,

I am following your add-on very closely and just saw you posted a new version:
2.1.10 - 20130106
- Re-enable Set Sort Direction option.

Does that solve the sort problem as discussed below?

This is more a problem with XBMC than my addon. The addon actually presents the photos in the original, unsorted order to XBMC. The problem is that XBMC's unsorted method basically does nothing; that is, it doesn't revert to the original order, it just does nothing. There is a ticket out for this but I have no idea when it will be fixed. It's set to Milestone 13.0, but who knows if it'll make it.

I also came across this post by Martijn from Team-XBMC: http://forum.xbmc.org/showthread.php?tid...pid1510972

Does that mean the sort problem (see posts #273 and #274 in this thread) has been addressed by XBMC?

whph, the option I re-added is to allow you to specify an enforced sort direction when entering an album (Ascending or Descending). It previously didn't work but appears to now in 12.3.

I'm not sure if Gotham solves the issue regarding the default sorting method. The ticket is still open, so it probably does not, but I can't say for certain because I simply haven't had the time to migrate to Gotham yet.

I see. Thanks for the info. Let's hope for the best.

I got the message today that the old ticket about the sort method problem in XBMC may (potentially) be solved in the latest nightly build of Gotham: http://trac.xbmc.org/ticket/10252

Unfortunately, I am too inexperienced to test it. Could you test it, please?

Seems the problem persists. I have a feeling that reply on that ticket was just a generic note to have people check the tickets pertaining to Gotham, since they're probably moving toward release soon.

Hey...

I'm thinking about adding pictures to my AppleTV1 which is running Crystalbuntu with the Broadcom card. I basically use it for streaming movies from my NAS. I had nothing but problems before I went to a NAS and used the IP address. So before I jump through hoops, will this add-on allow me to point to a NAS IP address, and if I want to set up a family picture slide show, will it sort of re-size the individual pictures to "fit" the screen or do I have to resize? BTW, I realize this is working from iPhoto which is on my iMac... but can iPhoto have a remote (NAS) spot where albums are parked? Thanks for any/all advice.

Mike
