XBMC Borked

I am at the end of my teather!!

Never had a problem with xbmc over the past year or so of upgrading through the nightly builds but now whatever i do after upgrading and scraping the files it will not load the movie files from the libraryHuh

It freezes showin the working logo , and i have to shut down using ctrl alt del and xbmc is not responding.

Something has got stuffed somewhere and i need a guru to fix this.

I have tried to remove all instances of previous downloads but still no joy.

This by the way is on a win 7 machine using svn 32 and upwards.

Debug log while scanning will probably tell you the answer.
Always read the XBMC online-manual, FAQ and search the forum before posting.
Do not e-mail XBMC-Team members directly asking for support. Read/follow the forum rules.

Read my sig. Also, in future please use specific topic titles - XBMC Borked isn't much use for those reading the forums to see where they can help out!

Cheers,
Jonathan

I have read your sig but the faq is lacking and just need a straight answer to where the debug log is?

I know your a mod and probably get tired of the same noob questions but its no help if no help is given.

Help anyone?

First, turn on debug logging in xbmc in system->debugging, then restart xbmc (this is important).
Then reproduce the issue (might want to press \ first to go windowed so you don't have to reboot the entire machine when xbmc hangs).

You can then find the log at C:\Documents and Settings\username\Application Data\xbmc\xbmc.log, and if it's not there just search for the file on your harddrive.

Open the file with notepad, copy its contents to http://pastebin.com/ and post the pastebin url here.

A genuine question, as this will help others in future:

http://wiki.xbmc.org/index.php?title=HOW...Bug_Report

That's the link in the "read this first" bit of my sig. Please tell me what that page is missing with respect to getting the debug log.

Thanks,
Jonathan

Perhaps an issue while trying to generate the thumbnails?

In settings->video there is an option there for:

Extract thumbnail and video information

Try to disable to see if that helps.
42.7% of all statistics are made up on the spot

Well, perhaps there is some sort of deadlock or hang with generating the thumbnail and then playing another video.

Not sure what the problem is but this option has been known to cause some issues.

Next step is to track down the exact file it's failing on.

Once you have found that, the next step is to supply that file to developers so they can reproduce it.

The exact file would be one of the images in the fanart folder?
