Problem with DTS-ES encoded files with latest SVN versions
#1
Has anyone had a problem playing back .MKV's with DTS-ES audio tracks? For some reason my receiver downstairs (connected via SPDIF) has all the lights correctly lit, but no sound comes out. If I hit the button to switch to plain stereo mode I get sound. The funny thing is these files USED to work awhile back, maybe it has something to do with newer Nvidia drivers or the more recent SVN builds of XBMC that I've been running. (I need newer SVN builds for MySQL support)

On a side note my system upstairs (Zotac ION) which just runs sound via HDMI to the TV's speakers also plays DTS-ES back poorly... everything is a lower pitch than normal. (Everyone sounds like Darth Vader)

Anyone experience this? Again this is ONLY with DTS-ES files. Standard DTS encoded files play back perfectly.

Thanks in advance for any assistance!

I've never been able to solve this problem other than switching into normal stereo mode on the receiver (which kills the surround sound)

It's ONLY the DTS-ES Matrix or Discrete files that have the problem. Plain old DTS always works great. Back in the xbmc 9.11 days I never had this problem...

Ok, so I FINALLY solved this problem! I used this asound.conf file:

http://www.xbmcfreak.nl/wp-content/uploa...dmix-spdif

Which should be placed in /etc. You should also remove or rename any .asoundrc file in your home directory.

I'm not sure how this fixes things but my best guess is that Dharma isn't properly mapping the channels for DTS-ES files. Again this problem only occurs if the files are DTS ES Matrix or DTS ES Discrete files (6.1)

Ok, so now it isn't working again. I'm at my wits end with this one!
