I have an ATV, a linksys router and a Qnap NAS server. All wired connected.

When I start a MKV movie of 1,6mb it takes 4 sec to startup. I think that's acceptable.
But when I start a ISO of 4,5mb it takes 40 sec to startup the first time. And I think that's not acceptable. Although the second time I startup the same movie it takes 3 sec to start up.

What could be the reason that the ISO of 4,5mb start that slowHuh?

If I upload a movie to the apple tv via cyberduck the transfer speed is 1,7MB/sec.
Does not matter I the original file is on my PC or on the QNAP server.

I will test it also with a MKV and a ISO directly on the HHD of my ATV.

It has nothing to do with your lan speed, it's trying to decrypt the DVD. It's somewhat of a bug, see this thread for more information: http://forum.xbmc.org/showthread.php?tid=70729

Thanks Philmatic,

disappointing to read this has not solved yet.

I need to convert my entire DVD collection.
To what format can I convert it the best way?
MKV? is it than possible to convert the audio to 5.1/DTS. Most of the time i see Stereo or Dolby prologic.
What program can I use the best?

use makemkv - it will keep the original audio and video (no compression) just package it into a nice .mkv container.
