[Mini-ITX] Zacate 2x1.6Ghz + HD6310 ($213)
#76
k0t3x Wrote:eskro,

So I really want to make this build. Here are the other parts I've selected for it.

HD: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.as...6822148697 $59.99
Ram: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.as...6820134751 $15.99
Remote: http://www.boltwoods.com/product_info.ph...B000W5GK5C $19.00

As a HTPC, I'm looking to basically use XBMC, Hulu, and be able to do retro gaming (n64 and below). I also want to be able to play 1080p movies (which I assume can be done from the other thread's q and a section).

Do you think this build would get the job done? I didnt choose a SSD mainly because I wanted the extra storage and am being cheap. I only did the 2gb ram because I'm wanting to be cheap as well and figured if it isn't enouch I can always buy another stick.
What do you think?
if you want to do game too, this might be better for you:

1. MSI 880GM-E41 AM3 AMD 880G HDMI Micro ATX AMD Motherboard
2. AMD Phenom II X4 955 Black Edition Deneb 3.2GHz
3. SILVERSTONE Black GRANDIA GD04B Micro ATX Media Center / HTPC Case
4. Antec EarthWatts Green EA-430D
5. HIS H657H1G Radeon HD 6570 1 GB
6. Kingston 4GB (2 x 2GB) 240-Pin DDR3 SDRAM DDR3 1066
7. LG Black 10X BD-ROM
8 Buffalo Technology MiniStation Stealth 1 TB USB 3.0
9. HP OEM Windows 7 Vista XP Media Center Remote Control

you'll be happy with it!

well you need to add these to your shopping cart to complete your htpc:

1. APEX MI-008 Black Steel Mini-ITX Tower Computer Case 250W Power Supply
2. Corsair XMS3 4 GB 1333MHz PC3-10666 240-pin DDR3
3. Samsung Blu-Ray Combo

well, your mobo allow up to 8gb of memory. 4gb is perfectly fine. you don't need a blu-ray player, but it is handy to have for blu-ray disc playback. you don't need another cpu fan as the e350 mobo has a cpu fan. one 120mm case fan should be enough to cool the mini-itx htpc.

for remote control, you can simply use this- hp mec remote control

why a bluray player?
does he need one?
anyways, if you, i suggest this one
[BD-R] Samsung SH-B123L ($58 + $0)

i would get this RAM here
[RAM: 1x2GB DDR3 1333 CL7] Kingston HyperX ($18 + $0)
will operate faster then the Corsair since it has CL7 and is cheaper!
oh yeah and, 2GB is enough for Win7 + XBMC...

i would also buy this case
[CASE+PSU] Apex MI-100 Black mITX 250W ($55 + $0)
almost identical to the MI-008, costs only $5 more,
but has a piano like finish everywhere and has ventilation holes on both sides!
which is a good thing in miniITX cramped'up environments...

To control XBMC from couch
[Remote Kit] HP Media Center 5187-4592 ($22 + $0)

anything else?

eskro- you and i can only provides suggestion. everything i suggested works flawless in my htpc's. at the end, it is up to him to mix match however he want it to make it his own.

as i stated, he don't need a bluray player but it can be very handy for anyone with a lot of bluray discs or rent bluray disc. i'm glad that i installed a bd-rom because my kids and wife rents bluray discs from redbox and netflix all the the time.

oh, i mentioned many times before that i don't deal with ebay. hp remote control is a dollar more at amazon, and i preferred amazon over ebay because they have the best return policy!

hp might have generated different bundles p/n for different vendors. it's still identical because it used identical remote. the ir p/n might be different, but it looks and works identical. the buyer in amazon review section said it works with xbmc live on ubuntu 10.10 out the box!
