MCE Remote fine in XBMC, broken in PowerDVD
#1
Using latest Dharma build, and PowerDVD10

Remote works wonderfully in XBMC but the buttons are totally screwed on PowerDVD. For example, pause brings up the menu etc

I've checked my keymappings and they seem correct (hence them working with XBMC!)

Perhaps i need to reset all the remote information back to default? If so, how would i do this?

Does anyone have any ideas why this isn't working? One would assume Pause on XBMC would be the same keymappings as Pause on PowerDVD!

This is the only thing holding me back from having a perfect HTPC

thanks

What model of remote are you using? Is it one of these: http://wiki.xbmc.org/?title=Remote_Control_Reviews

What, if anything, have you done to configure the remote?

Hi Guys,

It's the HP MCE remote (2nd HP MCE remote down on that website)

I installed a registry config for XBMC which works brilliantly, but PowerDVD /TMT is totally borked

I'm desperate to get this fixed

The registry config will probably have configured all the buttons to send keystrokes that XBMC can use. What keystrokes it sends depends on what config you used, but it probably sends the standard MCE keystrokes e.g. ctrl-shift-P for Play, ctrl-shift-S for Stop, etc. I don't think PowerDVD responds to these keystrokes, even though they are something of a Windows standard.

There was a thread asking about this some time ago, and my recollection is that EliteGamer360 managed to come up with a config that mostly worked in both XBMC and PowerDVD, though it cost him a few grey hairs :-) I think it's in this thread http://forum.xbmc.org/showthread.php?tid=88912 somewhere.

Which registry fix did you install?
Config 0.6?

It was this one

I did install the one from here :-

http://forum.xbmc.org/showthread.php?tid=88912

I can now use Play / Stop etc on PowerDVD but there is no way to bring up the blu ray menu so it's still not really useable

I didn't realise it would be so complicated! You would have thought the buttons on XBMC and PowerDVD would be the same?

Well you can configure the buttons any way you want in XBMC. Sadly the same is not true of PowerDVD.

This post here shows the modification's I made the EG's config 0.6 reg file to make my own modifications so that I could bring up the info menu whilst a Blurary/DVD was playing in PowerDVD.
You need to make sure you are using AutoKey and the AutoKey script that EG has posted so that when XBMC is NOT in focus the play, pause, stop etc buttons are working in PowerDVD.
Does that help?
