I can't get on my high horse about searching the forums to find a solution to this problem as I also posted a new topic when I had the crashing problem
It is kinda hard to know what to search for when the symptom is a crash - which could be caused by a multitude of things.
I was having the problem even though I had disabled updates using the option under NitoTV settings (though now I think about it, I wonder if that was to disable NitoTV updates, not AppleTV updates). Just in case you've done this or something similar, and you're still getting crashes you can properly disable updates by either installing updatebegone through NitoTV, or by SSH'ing in and typing
Code:
apt-get install com.nito.updatebegone
On your other points:
A debug log is a record of all the actions taken by XBMC during its use.
Here's a random example that I plucked off the forum. If you're having a problem, your own description will be of limited use to someone trying to solve it. It is
crucial that you supply a debug log if you appear to be experiancing some kind of error and need someone else to find what's going wrong. The normal log is not very detailed compared to a debug log. You enable debug logging under "system" in the settings menu.
The best thing to do to report a problem is to enable debug logging, restart XBMC, reproduce the problem, upload the log file to pastebin.com, and then describe the problem (with reference to the log file) in a relevant thread. Have a read of this (well titled) stickied thread to get a full overview of how to post about problems:
HOW-TO post about a XBMC for iOS problem in a useful manner
Another tip: if you need to start a new thread use the title as a brief description of what is happening, unless you absolutely
know what is causing the problem. This thread has a poor title because Plex has nothing to do with this problem - it's not even clear that you are experiencing a problem.
IPSW is the file format used by apple for their idevice / Apple TV firmwares. There's no excuse for not searching for that though - took 2 sec on Google using the term "ipsw"
Hope that's helpful
