Which IR Receivers support WMC discrete power on/off codes?
#1
Hello,

I have the HP IR reciever which I use with a Harmony 890. The HP receiver does not support the Windows Media Center discrete power on/off codes (they both function as a power TOGGLE button), and I would like to replace it with one that does. Which IR recievers do support those codes and are currently available? Thanks! Big Grin

Take a read through this thread:

IIRC, there is a IR receiver you can buy to actually do a turn off/turn on but I don't recall who makes it.

If you move into the pro installer products, IE URC, you can emulate a power button press. That way is a bit expensive though.

this guy have a very simple and cheap solution- INTERNAL IR RECEIVER WITH MCE REMOTE CONTROL(RC6)
>Alienware X51- do it all HTPC
>Simplify XBMC configurations
>HOW-TO Bitstreaming using XBMC
I refused to watch movie without bitstreaming HD audio!

oh i see, they also say
This Power Switch PCB does NOT come with the remote package.
Power switch PCB comes only with the HDPLEX Fanless Chassis.

means, good buy PowerON from complete OFF state,,,,

I use a cheap remote control plug and just set bois to switch to active on power restore

To turn on from cold I just turn the power off then on via the remote plug

Not the most elegant, integrated solution but it works for me and avoids issues like this, searching out mobos with circ etc etc

Does this controls ON/OFF only or it can also be use as a regular IR receiver for other remote functions?

currently, yes...
However, i've talking with the owner of SIMEREC and he said around October,
they'll release a version where you'll be able to not only PowerON&OFF
but also use a IR remote to control your HTPC!!

Interesting about simerec , they never mentioned that to me when I was emailing them or I would've waited (unless it had a little to do with me ;p) , still my solution is still working great, see :- http://forum.xbmc.org/showthread.php?p=884691
