Ok on my fifth time around, realizing that nitotv seemed to be at fault, i followed the wiki instructions (http://wiki.xbmc.org/index.php?title=HOW...pple_TV_20) instead of the instructions on the forums. So I didn't install nitotv at all. I've got xbmc now and it seems to be working... I'll post an update later.

doesn't seem so easy than i was thinking:-( tried updating with SSH with the commands from the FAQ (apt-get update). he starts with all "his lines" and then stops with this:
"dpkg was interrupted, you must manually run 'dpkg --configure -a' to correct the problem."
i run this command and get:
"error processing org.xbmc.xbmc-atv2 (--configure):
package is in a very bad inconsistent state - you should reinstall it before attempting configuration..."

what should i do now?? please help

Through Nito TV I get this error if I try to either install or uninstall it:
The package cydia needs to be reinstalled, but I can't find an archive for it.

If I follow EDen Beta install instructions on the Wiki I get this:

Tried to update to Eden through ssh. All goes well until the following appears:

87% [Connecting to cydia.zodttd.com] [Connecting to repo666.ultrasn0w.com] [Connecting to apt.modmyi.com]

Then apparently the apt-get update gets stuck before continuing and error messaging at the end. The full end result of apt-get update is copied below.

My question is: is there any harm?

you run apt-get update twice but forgot this one ?

apt-get install org.xbmc.xbmc-atv2

A lot of these iOS repos are having issues even on my iPhone with stuff unrelated to XBMC. An untethered jailbreak for iOS 5 came out, so my guess is these servers are being hit with more than normal traffic. If you keep trying then things will go through.

Since its being discussed in somewhat way: is iOS 5 (4.4 and so on still experimental in Eden?)
In know for a fact that XBMC works great in iOS 4

But the iOS 5 jailbreak is around the corner...
I'd love to finally also use the AirPlay mirroring

Haven't heard any issues in a long while about that. I think we're safe now, so I updated those parts of the FAQ.

Same issue here. Updated my parents ATV2 over VPN, and after the ATV2 rebooted, no XBMC button on Frontrow. Followed instructions on the Wiki from the start, did not use NitoTV.

This worked flawlessly on both my units this morning though.

jailbreak was ok for some reason something went crazy with upgrade.

tried killall still couldnt get it to appear.

Restored 4.3 again with untethered jailbreak and installed fresh xbmc and all is well now. Welcome to Eden

I just updated my iPad 1 to iOS 5 last night. So far, XBMC pre-Eden seems to be behaving just as well as the old nightly I had installed under 4.3. I haven't put many hours into it yet, but early indications are good.

Hi Jester,

Thought that may have been it. To be fair if you strictly follow the Wiki for Ugrade to Eden it does NOT show that command.
However tried all again and as you can see still no joy.
It keeps saying the package Cydia needs installing. I am not sure I ever installed this, unless it installs as part of the jailbreak. What do I do

That sounds okay. Some of the default cydia repositories are just overwhelmed, probably because of the recent release of an iOS 5 untethered jailbreak.

Did xbmc install okay? Or is it dependent on packages from one of those repositories?

If it installed without error, you should be good to go. If there was an error when installing, you can probably just try the "apt-get update" again a bit later, once those repositories have recovered.
