You should be able to playback all BD files in full 1080P video and bitstreaming DTS-HD/TrueHD audio with this $349 "Gateway SX2370-UB30P" (very small form factor- it's smaller than most micro-atx cases). It is fully equipped with Windows 7 and all the goodies, and it is ready for XBMC out of the box. You should be able to enjoy your BD files in no time! Smile
>Alienware X51- do it all HTPC
>Simplify XBMC configurations
>HOW-TO Bitstreaming using XBMC
I refused to watch movie without bitstreaming HD audio!

It also has an AMD graphics chip that would preclude using it with Linux.

Since it included W7, I doubt that OP is interesting of changing it to Linux. He'll be very happy to playback all his BD files in full 1080P video and DTS-HD/TrueHD audio with this Windows 7 HTPC. Smile

You still can setup AMD GPU with Linux, but it is harder than Nvidia GPU. You can simply install this $38 "ECS NGT430C-1GQR-F GeForce GT 430 (Fermi) 1GB" in it to make it simpler to setup with Linux. If it is XBMC+Windows 7, I wouldn't recommend Nvidia GPU. It suffered macroblocking issues!

If you want the mini-pc, I'm recommending this "Asus EeeBox PC EB1021 AMD Dual-Core E-450 1.65GHz" instead. You'll enjoy AMD HD6320 iGPU than Nvidia Ion iGPU! Smile

So i looked at the links you guys posted

if im not mistaken the below two links are the best two to get.

http://forum.xbmc.org/showthread.php?p=938763

can someone advise me if this really is the best way to go, i dont care about costs i want something that is going to flawlessly play 1080p rips streamed thru my network, i dont wanna cut corners and have to deal with lag or skips during movies.

Any help you can provide is greatly appreciated and the help so far has been great. Im not informed enough to really know what i am looking for myself, the whole graphics card thing has spun out of control in todays time every week theres something better, so i dont even know what is appropriate.

I jsut need 1080p movies to play back perfectly, and for this thing not to be loud and a huge powerhog. but whatever it takes for flawless playback i will take. thanks

Now, you are speaking my language (I meant HTPC language). This one should be perfect then:

1. Case/PSU: SILVERSTONE Sugo SG05-B Black
2. APU: AMD A6-3500 Llano 2.1GHz (2.4GHz Max Turbo)
3. MOBO: ASRock A75M-ITX FM1
4. Memory: Crucial Ballistix sport 4GB (2 x 2GB)
5. SSD: Patriot Torqx 2 PT232GS25SSDR 2.5" 32GB

It'll playback BD files in full 1080P video with DTS-HD/TrueHD audio, 3D, etc with ease! Smile
