Hey guys,

Thanks for the great post.

Is there a different cpu cooler that one can use for this build that would fit without the need to cut the bracket?

Thanks

I opted for the Scythe SCKZT-1000 CPU cooler with an Antec ISK300-150.

No metal cutting required to fit this one! Smile

Im sorry.... you are talking about something different SCKZT-1000 does it really keep the temps low?

I was just thinking about that..... the Scythe SCSK-1100 100mm Shuriken Rev. B 3 right?
I own that one too its on my other system....

you have proof it fits? pics? with out cutting? does it touch the bracket on top?

thanx,,,, Big Grin

This is nice.... if no one want to cut.... to get the 120mm shuriken to fit in there.

If this is true.... ill add it on the front of the page...... cant go wrong with either...

but I am thinking that the Scythe SCSK-1100 100mm Shuriken Rev. B 3 might just fit with out cutting......

The 1000 definitely fits without cutting, as I have had it in my build since day one! I haven't seen temperature exceed 40 degrees, and that's with the fan speed turned all the way down in the BIOS - going from memory think its rotating at around 1800 rpm.

I've also just installed a PicoPSU today following advice from wsume99 - thanks so much for helping me track down the cause of high power consumption in my build! Granted I could have gotten away with a smaller PicoPSU, but when I ordered the smaller ones seemed to be out of stock with a long lead time so I decided to go for this one instead.

I've done a comparison of max power consumption in two scenarios below and can safely say I'm very happy with my PicoPSU! Smile

Standard Antec 150w PSU that came with case: 83w max whilst running Prime95 ||| 75w max playing 1080p video in XBMC.
PicoPSU-120 + 110w Brick - 67w max whilst running Prime95 ||| 43w max playing 1080p video in XBMC.

I just checked instead of going by memory!

2250 rpm showing in the bios for CPU fan.

900rpm showing in bios for case fan.

Nope... Sitting two metres away it's near enough inaudible in my lounge. Smile

I may even remove the case fan depending on temperatures when the weather warms up!

It seems to fit in there nicely, and I do like the clean looks of the Scythe SCKZT-1000......
