Audio Device Conflict? >>> daily crash
#1
Hi,

since 7-8 weeks I run now my HTPC Lenovo Q180.
Since start working with my HTPC I have at minimum once a day a crash
with the build in audio devices. I have to reboot the HTPC in order
to make audio again run.

I see in my Windows 7 device manager, that there are 2 audio devices
listed:
1. AMD High Definition Audio Device
2. Realtek High Definition Audio

Could this causes the conflict for the crashes, that there are two devices
working?
What happens if I e.g. deactivate the AMD High Definition Audio Device?

Check Windows Event Viewer log,..it may provide more detail on the exact reason for the crash,..or at least a hint.

So you must be using your HDMI port for audio right?

Do you get a blue screen when it crashes?

yes, in order to have lossless audio like DTS HD/True HD
I use only HDMI for audio

no, only the picture in XBMC freezes or having then stuttering...
then I reboot and everything is ok...again and again

If you're using HDMI audio, then disabling the AMD HD Audio Device will disable the audio via HDMI, that device is the HDMI audio. The Realtek device is the audio for the rest of the system, ie audio out jacks from the motherboard. If you're not using any of those outputs, then try disabling the Realtek device and also uninstall the Realtek drivers/software from the system and see if that helps.
HTPC 1 - AMD A8-3870K, ASRock A75M, Silverstone ML03B, Kingston HyperX 4GB DDR3 1866, Crucial M4 64GB SSD
HTPC 2 - HP Stream Mini, 6GB Ram
unRAID 6 Server - Intel Celeron G1610, 20TB Storage

Try these-

1. Make sure to connect your system this way for bitstreaming HD audio- HTPC-->AVR->HDTV via two HDMI cables
2. Un-install Realtek completely
3. Install the latest AMD driver from here- AMD Driver Autodetect
4. Select AMD HDMI audio output in Windows 7 control panel sound playback
5. Install XBMC HD audio from here- [WINDOWS][PATCH]Bitstream output of HD audio formats
6. Be sure to select WASAPI: "avr model go here" (AMD High Definition.......) in XBMC settings/system/audio output and configures the rest of XBMC configurations as shown below-

I refused to watch movie without bitstreaming HD audio!
