Windows 7, running on Intel NUC.
Installed XBMC 12.2

playback is slow like hell. similar to video editing software that goes frame by frame.

when playing via Windows Media player - everything works just fine.

Can't find the expert menu. Left arrow doesn't work in settings menu.
Furthermore, I see it has something to do with audio device. is it possible that the computer in hand is connected to a monitor with no speakers and therefore the XBMC is not working properly ? if I'll connect the HDMI cable to a capable monitor with speakers, the problem will be solved ?

That comment in the linked thread about changing the user level applies to Gotham (XBMC 13). You are running XBMC 12.2 (Frodo), so that "Gotham" section is not applicable to you (i.e., just ignore it).
