OS X Mavericks + 12.3 worked, then ceased to work?
#1
Question
Hi everyone!

Yes, I'm aware of the problems regarding Mavericks, but I sort of don't have that problem (I think).

I installed Mavericks, so XMBC ceased to work. So as http://forum.xbmc.org/showthread.php?tid=176500 suggested I installed the testbuild xbmc-20131101-0536b03-Frodo-x86_64.dmg found in http://forum.xbmc.org/showthread.php?tid=176721

That worked, I was able to use XBMC with Mavericks!

However, it didn't work exactly well, crashing sometimes at startup but basically working once started successfully. After a few days it stopped working completely. I can't start it any more, it will crash immediately. Strange thing is that even if I remove the userdata folder completely it won't start any more. I can't remember having changed anything, this happened "out of the blue".

The log is somewhat short, not pointing to anything in particular. It stops with "07:34:55 T:140735225299728 NOTICE: Setup SDL"

What's SDL?

Any ideas on this?

Thanks in advance!

Regards
Steffen

This is the log file btw.

It has happened again.

Here's what I did so far:

- I tried to fix XMBC but with no effort
- I created a new user => XBMC worked again! (so something in the user itself must have been broken)
- "something" happened and XBMC crashes again

Of course I've created a new user so I can use XBMC again. I'll wait until it crashes again, then again create a new user and try to "diff" both. Maybe something comes up.

do you have a multiscreen setup? Also please don't post logs in the forum but use pastebin.com and only put the link in here next time. I need the crashlog aswell.

Hi Memphiz, thanks for your reply.

I've enabled Debug logging and startet XBMC again. Here are the logs:

Apple crash reporter: http://pastebin.com/rJgaT97j

XBMC debug log: http://pastebin.com/MvxJJVcz

I'm not running a multi-screen-setup. XBMC will crash with one user and run with another (newly created one). Note that I copy the whole Library with settings and everything else from user to user (~/Library/Application Support/XBMC).

Steffen

I can't see how this crash would happen. Please move the guisettings.xml from the userdata folder away and try again (ensure to keep the old settings.xml as a backup so we can investigate it if this fixes the problem).

I did that, however, it will crash in the very same way, see http://pastebin.com/S4rth0Ef

I edited the guisettings.xml to enable debug logging, here's the log: http://pastebin.com/kaPLrGLv

Hi I am a bit of a novice but i have had the same problem, only I haven't and don't know how to start a new user to get it working again, i have tried various different builds of XBMC the latest and some old ones but all of them won't start up. I have put my query in the discussion XBMC not working, and posted my logs in the window as i don't really know what I'm doing so sorry about this.
