Power management problems
#1
Hi

I'm a linux n00b but followed this thread:

http://www.springydevelopment.co.uk/2009...mic-koala/

and managed to get xbmc up and running on my Acer Revo.

The problem I have is I can't shut down / suspend / hibernate the system. I've removed and re installed pm-utils and added all the org.freedesktop commands for the xbmc user. In the xbmc gui the shutdown function shows ?0?

Can any body assist?

Many Thanks

Dan

I cannot speak for Ubuntu, but for Debian I had to add the xbmc user to the powerdev group. Please check the file /etc/dbus-1/system.d/hal.conf. If it says something about

Code:
<policy group="powerdev">
    :
    <allow send_destination="org.freedesktop.Hal"
           send_interface="org.freedesktop.Hal.Device.SystemPowerManagement"/>
    :
</policy>

then the powerdev group would be worth a try.

Just a wild guess, of course. Good luck.
