On my good old XBOX I have a IR kit like this for turning the xbox on. Anyone having any experience getting something similar working on your pc?

Logitech DiNovo Mini works like a charm. I totally forgot about any IR remotes since I have this fine piece of equipment. I recommend it specially with XBMC.

AHa, yes you wake it up from keyboard? Full power on or just resume from suspend?

You can use the XIR Kit with a PC

Just need to splice 3 wires on your PS for 5 Volt Standby (Purple on most PS), 5V (Red) and GND (Black) and find a place to mount the IR on the case

This will let you turn the PC ON / OFF via remote

Get the PRO Kit and run the wires to the right location

Alternatively, get the ANTEC VERIS kit off Newegg, if you have a spare 3.5" external slot. Don't connect the USB as its a pain to get the IR to work under Live...

I use one of each in both my HTPC's. I salvaged the XIR from an older XBOX...

Using my Harmony Remote, I'm now able to turn the computer ON/OFF via the remote

Resume from hibernation. It takes only few seconds to start machine up. I do not power down the computer completely at all. It takes to long to put it on line.

Great to hear, got a "Have no clue" kit in my old XboX that I will try to use. One minor issue is that Im using a Zotax Ion A without a "regular" PSU header. I will take a look an see what I can find...

Suspected this. Tried suspend and it "boots" really really quick , just got some issues with my motherboard to wake up from lan/usb...
