Guessing here but You probably don't have the restore partition on there, which makes the OS the second partition on the drive not the first. I had all sorts of problems restoring backups of my OS partitions. Drive copy worked fine however.
I gave up on the backups, I was spending more time trying to restore than just installing new. But, I understand that's a problem for you too...

probably yeah bluray,,,, keep patriot for now..
well, my SSD always was picky on booting sequence...
sometimes windows booted, sometimes, i just get a black screen and thats it.
then im forced to reboot until it picks windows up.
and when it doesnt i get a weird green line on the top of my display.
really weird.
well, i dont know of any application imaging that
backs up also the MBR...
do Acronis do that?
im googling around but, i can't really find a definitive answer.
most likely, i'll need to find a MBR back up / restore app...
and i use DriveSnapshot for many years,
when i needed to restore a backup, it always worked,
no BOOTMGR MISSING errrors....
this is annoying,,,
i did eMAIL the author of the app, named TOM, he's a good guy.

So...
Getting a new SSD, cloning the latest backup and being up and running again isn't an option?

Have you tried repairing the boot files? Boot with your Win7 cd and go to system repair and get a command prompt
bootrec /fixboot
bootrec /fixmbr
