Linux core i3 2120T+P8H77-I (or Z77E-ITX)+Linux?
#1
Anyone running XBMC under Ubuntu (or XBMCbuntu) on a core i3 2120T (35W TDP) combined with either the P8H77-I or the Z77E-ITX mobo?

Any problems driving difficult 1080p material? Compatibility issues with Linux and the mobo?

Seen post where people are using the mobos but haven't found any that mentions Linux as the OS.

ive got the z77e itx and dual boot ubuntu and openelec. i added a gt430 so cant comment about the onboard gpu. gt430 works a treat plays everythimg.

my only problem was with the bios and wol. if i enable it the pc continually reboots. as rock just fobbed me off. board is so sick.

i created a thread of my build a while back if

I can live without wol but never the less, that’s just weird. Do you know if there are other people out there with the same wol problem?

I was hoping to use the onboard GPU but I don’t know if it has enough oomph to drive some of the more difficult 1080p material.

Couldn't find anyone else with the rebooting problem.

onboard gpus these days have no problem with 1080p. I only bought the gt430 for bitstreaming

Im running the 2120t on a Asus ROG V Gene mobo.
Running OpenELEC.

Works beautifully.

I too use a GT520 but have used the onboard for a time, and it worked well.
No difference between onboard and GT520.

If there is no difference between Intel iGPU and GT520, why add GT520? It'll add head/noises.....

I refused to watch movie without bitstreaming HD audio!

Its a stop gap between a GT640.
I'll probably take it out.

I just prefer dedicated. But in all honesty there is no difference as you say.

I ended up going for the i3 + P8H77-I combo in the end.
Also bought a GT430 instead of using the onboard GPU since it is actually easier to connect to my heat sink (HFX classic, fanless setup).
So far at least everything is working just fine. Well, XBMCbuntu only starts every second time but when it starts everything is perfect… Tongue
