****pics of completed build on last page****

Just ordered a nice mini itx case i came across which seals the deal as far as which platform i would build off of. Can yall take a look at the components im interested in and tell me if anything just will not work? thanks for reading

Also, am i going to need to order a power cord for this case? i dont think it comes with one, so how do i know which cord to order? would also like to install an IR receiver in the slot provided, so any input on which one would fit?

Case-cancelled the first wesena and bought this version

CPU w/integrated graphics (Do i have room for discreet graphics?)

Ram ( big question here is will this ram work with the mobo i want?)

MoBo (wanted sata3, usb 3.0, and hdmi)

SSD

Thermal Paste (this stuff is important right?)

Slot load disc drive- no idea, need help in this area too

PSU- Is this a better option than pico?

That's a nice looking case, for sure.
I'll leave it to others for the build advice, but I will say that I have the 128gb version of the Samsung SSD, and I love it.

For the memory, I'll stay away from the very high comb for a Mini-Itx build. More often than not, the comb will interfere with CPU heat sink. This one "Kingston Technology HyperX 8 GB (2x4 GB Modules)" might be more appropriate for a Mini-Itx build. I thought it stated "Power options: ----- 150W PSU and external AC/DC adapter." in product description.....

>Simplify XBMC configurations
>HOW-TO Bitstreaming using XBMC
I refused to watch movie without bitstreaming HD audio!

Yeah it states the 150w psu and adapter but a user review says only cases ordered from the manufacturer come with PSU and adapter. That being said, is 150w PSU enough for this build?

Ok looking for some input on this gpu
http://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B007M8SGJA...117&sr=8-1

It says its low profile and ideal for htpc but needs 400w psu. Can I fit 400w in this case?

Also on New egg the mobo I have listed in first post says it handles ddr3 ram out to 1888mhz. So if I get 1600mhz low pro ram like bluray suggested ill be able to utilize it fully?

I just don't want to buy ram and not be able to max it because of the mono

That PSU isn't going to fit. I believe your only option is an external PSU like a Pico

Are you a gamer? If not, you'll not need it. If it is some mild games, you can opt for this "MSI R6570-MD2GD3/LP Radeon HD 6570 2GB" instead. If you want a Wesena with PCI slot, you can opt for this "Wesena, ITX7-B" instead...

That is what it stated, but you wouldn't need 400W in real world.....

For HTPC, you wouldn't benefit much because there is no different for blu-ray playback.....

Have you thought about what you are doing. You have selected an ivy bridge CPU but only a sandy bridge motherboard, you linked to an atx psu that won't fit in the case you have bought and you are asking about a discrete graphics card when your case clearly has no where for it to be installed.

I advise you to step back for a moment and think through your build more carefully.

You need an H77 chip set motherboard to get the most out of the CPU something like the ASRock H77M-ITX, and a picopsu of about 120watts.

David
HTPC1: Intel Pentium G620, 4GB RAM, AMD HD6570, Samsung 830 SSD, Silverstone GD05 case.
HTPC2: AMD Athlon II X2 255, 4GB RAM, AMD HD5450, Western Digital HDD, Silverstone ML03 case.
HTPC3: AMD E350, 4GB RAM, AMD HD6310, OCZ Agility 3 SSD, Akasa Crypto case.
Media Server: i3-3220, 8gb RAM, WHS 2011, 8tb capacity, Fractal Design ARC Midi R2 case.

I Believe The thermal past is already per-applied onto the CPU fan.

I've used this site to help me with determining what I needed in terms of s PSU.

@ David, scrolling, and bluray. thank you for setting me straight. this is my first build and i just keep getting sucked into all the build options and whats compatible and what fits just gets lost in the jumble. going to edit op reflecting the mobo suggested and possibly the other wesena case.

1. i had no idea the mobo was for a different chip than i had picked out. going to re-evaluate that! thanks
2. how does the case determine if theres a pci slot? i thought the slot was on the mobo? or are you saying there will be no room to use the slot in that case?
3. i want future expandiblity (ie discreet graphics) so i may get the bigger case
4. the thermal paste is needed for a custom cpu cooler. but i may not need one i guess.(probably no room)

i am a console gamer (only fps on xbox live) but would love to be able to grab a copy of dirt3 or something i care nothing about playing on live with just mess around with it. so thats why im interested in a discreet gpu

well thanks to yalls awesome awesome advise and critiquing i think i have a pretty solid build and have room to add a gpu later. will do a lot of research on power requirements and heat output and such. gonna go with the integrated graphics and that i5 for now. from what im reading it will hold its own as an htpc. like the new case as well. the guy with the mini itx i3 build used it. i like the front usb and card reader

last thing. i posted a psu link in op. says its for a mini itx build. any feedback on that unit?
