Hey All,

I was wondering if you can point me in the right direction?
I have a computer (i3, 4GB DDR3). I only need a "not too expensive" videocard which can show HD movies and HD audio (over hdmi)?

I have a small computer case so i hope we can find something Smile.

Thanks for the help so far.

Mitch.

I would think your i3 is perfectly fine for HD video and audio, no?

Are you running Windows or Linux?
Do you need decent de-interlacing performance, or is most of your content progressive?

You should be able to playback blu-ray in 1080p video and bitstreaming HD audio using Intel i3 iGPU......if you bought a mobo without HDMI port, this silent $17 card should do the trick "SAPPHIRE Radeon HD 5450"....

I refused to watch movie without bitstreaming HD audio!

I am running Windows 7 and its true, the onboard GPU does do the trick.
But i somewhat find the performance a little lagging/stuttering. Sometimes it also looks like the lipsync isnt correct.

I got my computer hooked up to my Onkyo Receiver by HDMI.

What settings do you recommend inside XBMC and for my Onkyo to make it work properly?

Thanks so far for the replies, i appreciate it!

You can find the proper DXVA settings this thread- Simplify XBMC configurations......and make sure to update the latest Intel driver from here- Check your system for the latest updates .....

Since your HTPC is connected to Onkyo, you can configure XBMC audio output as show in this thread- Alienware X51 mini gaming PC for multipurpose HTPC.....you can simply select WASAPI and check all receiver capable options.....

Thanks guys!
Giving you rep points for the replies...i appreciate them...

I got them setup how it is suppose to be.

Audio through WASAPI..
Video - DXVA OFF and Render Mode: Software....

Does turning those options off mean quality loss or what would be the difference?

Thanks again!

dxva is directx video acceleration; with it on a gpu does the work - with it of the CPU gets all the work.
It shouldn't make a visual difference although some users report seeing one. I personally have both a i3 and a nvidia system and really can't tell the difference Smile

Thanks Ragg...

So my options are set as followed;

Video:
Render Method; Software
DXVA2: Off
Adjust Display Refresh Rate to match video: Off
Sync Playback to display: Off

System:
Audio output device: WASAPI
Passtrough output device: WASAPI

I download all the latest drivers, checked with the Intel Drive Update utility...
I still have some problems when the Camera is sliding/panning past a car/brick wall (a scene with no further movement). There is a small studder in the video...
I only have tested it with a Hawaii Five-0 720p WEB-DL mkv...

Any idea how i can get a smooth playback? Or could it be the mkv?
I can try running the video in VLC player and check if it makes a difference...

Let me know!
Mitch

Ok so it seems to be the file itself..
I ran it in VLC player and it had the same stutter....

Could it be the refresh rate my videocard is set too?

Another update..

Ran i through VLC on another computer and the playback is smooth on that one..
So i think its a Framerate/Hz issue...

To which should i set the TV/Videocard? 50hz, 59Hz, 60HzHuh Or do i need to enable/disable an option in XBMC?

Cheers
